Sarawak Energy Berhad is the holding company principally involved in the power and electricity sector through its subsidiaries to generate, transmit, distribute and supply electricity. We employ more than 2400 employees and our operation covers the whole state of Sarawak. We are seeking highly aspiring, self motivated and result oriented person to join us for the development of electricity supply.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malaysian of Sarawak origin to fill the following posts:

1. Electrical Engineer Gred E1

Requirements:-

• Candidates should possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering from local universities or related discipline from a recognized University or college, AND passed Bahasa Malaysia Paper (including a pass in Oral Test) at SPM level.

• Must possess a mature disposition, self-motivated with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and make sound judgements.

2. Technician Gred NE2

Requirements:-


• Certificate in Engineering from Politechnic and passed the Bahasa Malaysia Paper (including oral examination) at the SPM Level.

• Relevant technical training and knowledge, effective communication skill, positive attitude, confident, high integrity and mature personality

3. MECHANICAL/CHEMICAL ENGINEER – E1/E2 (1 post)

Responsibilities:-

• Undertakes front line research on fuel cell technologies by performance of basic and applied research with appropriate methodologies and scientific laboratory experiments;

• Leads and participates in field and laboratory inspections and tests for the fuel cell development and construction, certifies test results, prepares testing reports; and trains and supervises technicians in data collections and analysis, testing procedures and equipments;

• Provides technical supervision, including analysis of interim reports, participation in workshops, literature searches, identification and administration of resource persons/consultants in support of projects;

• Plans and conducts complex technical studies and analyses that includes research, collection, tabulation and evaluation of information; develops reports and recommendations for action based on thorough research and analysis; prepares written documentation, reports, and studies, including narrative and statistical/graphical information;

• Provides technical assistance and coaching to service providers; facilitates collaboration of efforts by contractors and stakeholders; assists agencies with program development, implementation, and evaluation; develops materials and coordinates training of community partners.

Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;

• Minimum with one (1) year experience;

• Well versed and abreast of recent technologies of fuel cell and comprehend the state of relevant research affair in global scenario;

• Skills of acquiring information and research communities networking;

• Knowledge of assigned research area, specifically in fuel cell technologies and the integration of the other relevant technologies like hydrogen production and storage, coal gasification, carbon sequestration etc;

• Knowledge and skills on research methodologies, protocols and procedures;

• Ability to do applied research in this field with pilot systems.

4. MECHANICAL SPECIALIST – E3/E4 (3 POSTS)

Responsibilities:


• Responsible and accountable as a team member for the effective and efficient project technical supports including feasibility studies, tender design specification preparation and proposal evaluation, checking contractor and vendor’s design to compliance and testing/commissioning of plants;

• To prepare engineering schemes and drawings;

• Plans for project technical needs including implementation schedule and performs evaluation of options;

• Provides technical coordination and advices to project activities implementation to ensure work results/objectives are being met;

• Participates in technical meeting including updating project technical progress report regularly;

• May at times act as Team Leader or Project Engineer assigned to site to ensure projects are completed on time in compliance to statutory requirement, engineering practices and within contract specification to the satisfaction of the client;

• To carry out any other duties as required by the Company from time to time.

Requirements:

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering or higher (BEM recognized);

• Min. 6-8 years of relevant working experience in either/and Diesel Engine, Boiler, Steam/Gas/Hydro Turbines operation and maintenance;

• Possess extensive knowledge, skill and experience in Power Plant engineering, operations and maintenance;

• Able to read, interpret and analyze engineering drawings;

• Possess basic knowledge in project management;

• Possess good communication & interpersonal skill, planning & organizing capability;

• Possess good analytical thinking & computer information technology skill;

• Possess professional initiatives, positive, proactive and integrity;

• Able to work independently with limited resources in a team;

• Able to be responsive and flexible to change;

• Discipline and possess character for self-development and self-learning;

• Willing to be assigned to site for extended duration.

5. SENIOR ENGINEER MAINTENANCE & OPERATION STANDARDS – E3 (1 POST)

Responsibilities:


• Plan and monitor substation maintenance programs;

• Upkeep substations maintenance data in E-Maintenance database;

• Analyze and monitor the effectiveness of maintenance activities;

• Review maintenance policies, strategies, guidelines and procedures;

• Establish best Maintenance and Operations Standards practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor in Electrical Engineering;

• At least 10 years working, with 3-5 years in substation operation and maintenance;

• Competent in operation & maintenance of substation equipment up to 33kV;

• Holder of Competent Certificate issued by EIU would be an advantage;

• Sound knowledge on diagnostics and repairs of substations equipment;

• Analytical skills to interpret data and trends;

• Good communication and interpersonal skills;

• Exhibit good leadership quality.

6. MECHANICAL ENGINEER – E1/E2 (3 POSTS)

Responsibilities:


• Assists in the engineering tasks including tender specification and documentation, preparation, proposal evaluation, checking contractor and equipment vendor’s design on compliance, attend factory/site testing & inspection, site works supervision, commissioning and handing-over activities;

• Acts as Project Engineer to ensure projects are completed on time and project works are in compliance to statutory requirements and engineering practices within the contract specification requirements to the satisfaction of the client;

• Monitoring and coordination of project activities implementation to ensure work results/objectives are being met;

• Assists and participates in project site meetings including keeping records, drawings, minutes of meeting etc;

• Evaluation of works completion, payment claims and preparation of project progress report;

• To carry out any other duties as may be required by the Company from time to time.

Requirements:

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering (BEM recognized);

• Min. 2-3 years of relevant working experience ;

• Possess basic project management knowledge;

• Possess good communication & interpersonal skills with planning & organizing capability;

• Possess good analytical thinking & computer information technology skills;

• Possess professional initiatives, positive, proactive and integrity;

• Able to work fairly independently in a team;

• Able to be responsive and flexible to change;

• Willing to be assigned to project site for extended duration.

7. CIVIL ENGINEER – E1/E2 (1 POST)

Responsibilities:


• To lead a team of technicians to supervise the construction of transmission line project;

• To select transmission line route, key angle tower position, access road planning, preparation of departmental wayleave and to seek consent from landowner to enter sites to carry out works;

• To design the transmission line, carry out line profiling, prepare tender specification and Bills of Quantity;

• To call tender, adjudicate, arrange tender clarification meeting and prepare tender evaluation report;

• To create new WBS, Notification of Tender Award and Purchase Order in SAP system and prepare Contract Document for the project;

• To assist the Manager to ensure proper execution of projects which include preparation of implementation schedules, arrangement of meeting, preparation of minutes of meeting, monitoring projects progress, preparing progress report and certifying project progress claim/payment;

• To formulate quality control procedures, factory inspection for the conductors, insulators, fittings and witness tower/monopole testing;

• To liaise with various government authorities, councils and contractor on project related matters;

• To liaise with other project engineers for access to the substations for termination works, laying of the XLPE cables & OPGW connection;

• Arrange to hand over/commissioning of transmission lines;

• To prepare final account for the projects.

Requirements:

• A degree in Civil Engineering;

• 1-2 Years of related working experience;

• Knowledge and technical skills on related field;

• Good communication and interpersonal skills;

• Computer literates – Words, Excel, Microsoft Projects and Power Points;

• Project Management skills;

• Planning & Organising.

8. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – E1/E2 (1 POST)

Responsibilities:


• Responsible for site visit and survey before project implementation;

• Perform engineering tasks including feasibility studies, tender design and specifications, tender evaluation, checking vendors detailed design to compliance;

• Responsible for processing and verifying payment certificates;

• Responsible for supervising the erection, testing, and commissioning works of EHV substation projects;

• Responsible for factory/site testing and inspection to ensure that the execution of EHV projects comply with the Specification, and SESCO Standard and practices;

• Responsible for Site Environmental Health and Safety;

• Responsible to update Project Progress and CPM Scheduling database on regular basis;

• Conducts project site meeting including keeping records, drawings (including as built drawings), minutes etc. and prepare project progress report;

• To carry out any other duties as required by the Company from time to time.

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering;

• More than 5 years of working under engineering environment in particular project management;

• Possess extensive knowledge, skill and experience in HV and EHV substation engineering;

• Able to read, and interpret engineering drawings;

• Possess basic knowledge in project management;

• Possess good communication & interpersonal skill, planning & organizing capability;

• Possess good analytical thinking & computer information technology skill;

• Possess professional initiatives, positive, proactive and integrity attitude;

• Able to work independently with limited resources in a team;

• Able to be responsive and flexible to change;

• Discipline and possess character for self-development and self-learning;

• Willing to be assigned to site for extended duration.

9. SECRETARY – NE3 (2 POSTS)

Responsibilities:


• To take dictations, converting written words into typed letters, document, instrument, processing confidential and other correspondence and secretarial duties;

• To answer telephone queries/requests or re-direct such queries/requests relevant officers or superiors;

• To file office correspondences, documents, etc.;

• To keep diary and arrange appointments /meetings and transport as and when required;

• To operate fax machine: transmit/receive, record/distribute and file;

• To arrange meetings and other related arrangements;

• To make travel arrangements and hotel bookings;

• To track mail, handle/dispatch, record incoming/outgoing mails and re-distribution to appropriate officers;

• To reply and draft short letters as and when required;

• To arrange refreshments for meetings/visitors.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Secretarial Science or Diploma in Office Management or equivalent;

• Shorthand;

• Typing Skills;

• Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Words, Excel, Powerpoint).

10.WAYLEAVE ASSISTANT – NE1 (1 POST)

Responsibilities:


• To inspect vegetation in the easement of the 275kv/132kv transmission lines;

• To count the crops affecting the easement;

• To locate landowners for crop cultivation form signing;

• To measure the area of land damage;

• To solve problems arising from landowners;

• To valuate crop/land damage compensation;

• To liaise with vegetation contractors for crop clearing.

Requirements:

• Minimum qualification of Sijil Rendah Pelajaran or Penilaian Menengah Rendah;

• Good communication skills;

• Public relations skills;

• Physically fit for rough terrain.


11. TECHNICIAN - NE4 (6 POSTS)

Responsibilities:


• To climb and inspect 275kv and 132kv towers;

• To carry out safe and proper electrical maintenance on the 275kv and 132kv transmission lines;

• To inspect and supervise 275/132kV transmission line foundations;

• To supervise civil protection works of 275kv/132kv transmission towers;

• To patrol line faults;

• To repair conductors of 275kv/132kv transmission lines;

• To replace line accessories and wood cross arms of 275kv/132kv transmission towers;

• To inspect the vegetation in the easement of the 275kv/132kv transmission towers;

• To assist in preparation and compilation of tender documents and drawings;

• To compile photographs record of works (tower foundation & lines).

Requirements:

• Polytechnic Certificates (Electrical or Civil Engineering);

• Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia with minimum 3 years working experience in related fields or SKM or MLVK Certicifates;

• Public relations skills;

• Physically fit for rough terrain.
